INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 cups of almond/coconut milk (unsweetened)
  • Matcha powder, 1 tablespoon
  • A tbsp of keto honey (optional)
  • Half a cup of hot water
  • Ice, 1.5 or 2 cups

INGREDIENT NOTES:

MILK:
Use the milk that you prefer. Either it is almond, coconut, oat, hemp, or regular dairy milk.
If you desire a dairy-free version then avoid using dairy milk. Another choice available to you is a creamy beverage.

HOT WATER:
Matcha powder requires hot water to dissolve well.

MATCHA POWDER:
Most of the people don’t know exactly about matcha powder. It is a green-colored powder made from grinding the leaves of green tea (Japanese). Ceremonial-grade matcha is high in quality & low in bitterness but too much costly. So, the culinary-grade matcha also works fine in our recipes when you dissolve it in water. It is also easy to afford.

ICE:
We need ice cubes to have a chilled matcha latte.

SWEETENER:
Use liquid sweetener here if you feel the need. Honey or maple syrup is the choice. If you want to be strict with your keto diet, then use the sugar-free version of honey/maple syrup.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Heat the water in a little saucepan.
Add that hot water to the little bowl.
Next, include matcha powder.
Use matcha/normal whisk to dissolve it well.
Place two clean glasses on the work table.
Split the honey (if using), milk, and ice between both glasses.
Now divide the mixture of matcha powder in both of the glasses.
Mix to combine it well.
Your iced matcha latte is ready.

TIPS:

Use a frother/regular whisk to have the foamy milk. To avoid any spilling of milk, transfer it to a large jug & then make it foamy.

Pay attention to the water’s temperature at which you have to dissolve matcha powder. If your water is boiling hot then you will taste something bitter.
if your water is cold or at the surrounding temperature then there would be a chance of lumps.
That is why we have decided on a temperature at which matcha powder dissolves best. It should be around 175 Fahrenheit.

To have a more refreshing drink, place the empty & clean glasses in the freezer to chill.

Sweetening the drink is your choice. Either you want to add a little keto honey/maple syrup or want to avoid keto sweeteners as well.

STORAGE INFORMATION:

This drink is quick & easy to make if you have all the items at hand. Still, if you want to make it earlier then go ahead.

FRIDGE:
Use the fridge to keep it safe for 3 days by sealing it in a bottle.

FREEZER:
Fill the tray of ice cubes with prepared matcha latte. When you need to drink then fill your glass with ice cubes and wait for it to defrost.
Another option is that you freeze the matcha-water mixture. When you want to drink then, Place the required amount of cubes of that mixture (matcha & water). Then fill the glass with milk, and honey (optional).

Use any of the two kinds of matcha powder. Either it is a culinary grade or a ceremonial grade. Any of the ones you can arrange will go best in the latte.

Include a tbsp of cocoa powder in the matcha-water mixture. This way you may enjoy the iced matcha mocha!
