INGREDIENT NOTES:

 

GREEK YOGURT:
We use Greek yogurt that is packed with fats. That means it is naturally high in fats & proteins (being low in carbs). It also adds citrus/tangy richness to our smoothie.

BUTTER:
We are using here peanut butter because we like it more. You may go for almond butter. Both butter provides the same flavor of nuts to your smoothie. Please disregard this as optional if you are allergic to nuts.

PUREE OF PUMPKIN:
It is a basic item of pumpkin pie smoothie. It is always better to use a puree of fresh & little pumpkin made by yourself.
Keep remembering that you must have to use an unsweetened puree of pumpkin.

ICE:
Make your smoothie chilled & refreshing. Add ice cubes to the blender at the last step.

CREAM:
The cream (heavy) adds a rich and silky texture to the smoothie. If you want to stay light with it then you may go for half & half/milk.
If you wish to avoid dairy then use any plant-based milk (almond, peanut, coconut, cashew).

SWEETENER:
The recipe uses a substitute (sugar-free) of maple syrup here. You have the open choice to use any keto sweetener (powder/liquid) of your choice.

PUMPKIN PIE SPICE:
It is a blend of a few warm spices that add the classic vibe of winter to our smoothie. You can have your pumpkin pie spice at home if you have the spices in your kitchen. Otherwise, you may buy this spice blend from the store or simply use only powdered cinnamon.

INSTRUCTION:

  1. Place the blender/food processor at your working place near the socket.
  2. Plug in the blender.
  3. Include all items that you have gathered for making this yummy smoothie.
  4. Place the lid & blend (high speed) to make a smooth & velvety mixture.
  5. Drink a sip of smoothie to check if it needs to have more spices or sweeteners.
  6. Balance any spice or sweetener if needed.
  7. Place two clean glasses near the blender.
  8. Divide the smoothie between both the glasses from the blender jug.
  9. Dust with some powdered cinnamon/pumpkin pie spice.

TIPS:

You may go creative with the garnishing. Top with cream (whipped), powdered cinnamon, or nuts (chopped). You may use their combo.

Along with the keto sweeteners of your choice, you must add the unsweetened version of pumpkin puree. That is important to keep the overall content of carbs low.

Here we have used peanut/almond butter for extra protein. You may add any protein powder of your choice.

STORAGE INFORMATION:

We recommend you add ice only to the portion that you have to enjoy at that instant.

FRIDGE:
Use the fridge to keep the remaining smoothie safe for about 1 or 2 days.

FREEZER:
You may also freeze them in the portion. So, defrost a portion, mix it, and enjoy. We normally don’t recommend the freezing of dairy products. As freezing/defrosting cycle will disturb the milk/cream texture.
If you still choose to freeze then it’s your opinion.

Pumpkin itself is high in fiber & low in carbs. We combine its puree with great care to the healthy ingredients (low carb, high fats & protein). This way we make it an ideal keto drink.

Are chia seeds a good option to add to the smoothie?
Chia seeds can add more fiber and fats (healthy). It would be an amazing addition. Include them right before serving/drinking. They make the smoothie thicker/caky as time passes.

Will our smoothie be as good with frozen pumpkin puree as with fresh puree?
Sure, you have the option to freeze the pumpkin puree in a tray of ice cubes. You only have to throw them in a full-speed blender with the rest of the items. You will have the best results.

Is it compulsory to use Greek yogurt?
No, not at all. You may use plain yogurt. Greek yogurt contains more protein and gives an extra creamy & velvety texture. Therefore, we prefer to use it.
