INGREDIENT NOTES AND THEIR KETO SUBSTITUTIONS:

ALMOND FLOUR:

  • We have to utilize finely ground almond flour, as it will provide structure and a tender texture to the low-carb pastry.

COCONUT FLOUR:

  • We utilize coconut flour because it will absorb moisture and improve the structure of the pastry.

PSYLLIUM HUSK:

  • Psyllium husk will help bind the gluten-free dough and give it flexibility. As a substitute, we can use ground chia seeds.

BUTTER:

  • We utilize butter because it will add richness and help the pastry brown beautifully. You can replace it with ghee or melted coconut oil.

GROUND BEEF:

  • Ground beef will provide protein and a traditional savory flavor to the filling. As a replacement, you can use ground turkey or ground chicken.

ZUCCHINI:

  • We have to utilize zucchini because it will provide moisture and texture while keeping the filling low in carbohydrates. Instead, you can use finely diced celery or cauliflower.

CAULIFLOWER:

  • Cauliflower will add bulk and texture while keeping the filling keto-friendly.

WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE:

  • Worcestershire sauce will provide a rich, savory flavor to the beef filling. As a substitute, you can use coconut aminos.

PARSLEY AND THYME:

  • Parsley and thyme will provide fresh, aromatic, and savory flavors to the filling. As an alternative, you can use oregano, basil, or rosemary.
