Keto Frikadellens

Keto Frikadellens also known as German meatballs. These delicious meatballs contain protein-rich beef & some spices to make them delicious. You have the option to make these German meatballs & freeze without frying. When you have to eat/serve them, Only fry them in heated oil on low flame. so, they become roasted from the outside & tender from the inside. This way you can make the quick Keto Frikadellens without any working hassle.

EQUIPMENT:

  • 1 skillet
  • A mixing vessel (big)
  • medium-sized bowl, 1

INGREDIENTS:

  • Beef (ground), 600 grams
  • Paprika powder (Hungarian), 1 tsp
  • One onion (normal-big sized)
  • Garlic as per your taste
  • A dash of powdered peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons of mustard
  • An egg (large)
  • To taste salt
  • Dried herb/Italian seasoning, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • A roll (kaiser or regular)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Put the roll in a vessel & fill it with water.
  2. Soak the roll meanwhile, chop the onion (omelette cut).
  3. Place a pan on the normal flame & include the oil.
  4. Put the chopped onions in the heated oil & cook on low heat.
  5. Cut the flame, then remove the pan from the heat source once the onions are light golden.

SEASONING OF GROUND BEEF:

  1. Place a big vessel on your working bench.
  2. Put the beef (ground) in that vessel.
  3. Include the paste of tomato, salt, mustard, spices, some garlic, and herbs.
  4. Go towards the soaked roll.
  5. Press/squeeze it to remove excess water.
  6. Add the roll to the beef and other spices by crumbling it using your hands.
  7. Now add the light golden brown onions to that ground beef along with an egg.
  8. Use your clean hands to mix everything very well.
  9. Start making the frikadellen.
  10. They should not be round like meatballs or completely flat.
  11. Their shape must be somewhere between round & flat.
  12. This way you make around 8 frikadellen of your palm’s size.

FRYING:

  1. Now place the frikadellen in the heated oil & turn the flame to slow.
  2. Saute them slowly for around 6 or 8 mins/side.
  3. Check their tenderness using a meat thermometer (instant-read).
  4. If the thermometer reads 70 Celsius/160 Fahrenheit, then it’s time to dish them out.

TIPS

If you feel that your mixture is too wet then add more breadcrumbs to adjust the consistency.

We have used the soaked Stale roll here. you may use breadcrumbs as well. They will perform the same function.

You are free to up or down the amount of spices & salt as per your taste.

Make sure to cook the frikadellens on low heat. Otherwise, they are uncooked on the inside & burn on the exterior.

STORAGE INFORMATION:

FREEZER:
We don’t recommend keeping the cooked frikadellen in the freezer. But the freezer will be best for storing the seasoned frikadellens.
Give Frikadellen their shape and place them on a tray in a single layer.
Put the tray in the freezer.
Once frozen, seal pack them in a plastic bag and store them for up to 120 or 160 days.

Defrost and then fry them & serve them hot & fresh.

FRIDGE:
Pack the meatballs in a sealed vessel. Use the fridge to keep them safe for 2 or 3 days.

Reheat them on low flame while covered or warm them up in the microwave.

FAQs:

What should we do if we face the issue of breaking the meatballs while frying?
You don’t have to face this issue if you use a large egg & required amount of breadcrumbs. They both act as the glue in keeping the frikadellen away from breaking while frying.

What to serve with the German meatballs?
Frikadellen has various serving options. It pairs well with salads, kinds of pasta, potatoes (mashed, fried, or boiled), pickled cucumbers, or curry ketchup.
