  • One-ounce brown gravy packet
  • 6 pepperoncini peppers (plus half a cup of juice)
  • Quarter cup butter

INGREDIENT NOTES

Chuck roast

  • I use beef chuck roast for the best results. You can also use round roast or rump roast. Mississippi mud roast can be made with pork and chicken.

Seasoning

  • This roast recipe is specifically made with a ranch mix packet and brown gravy pack. Ranch mix dressing is also being prepared at home. You can also skip the buttermilk power like I used to sometimes.

Pepperoncini Pepper

  • Pepperoncini pepper is the secret recipe of this dish. It can help in tenderization of the meat and also it enhances its taste.

Butter

  • The Mississippi mud roast recipe uses about half a stick of butter. For an opaque appearance, you can apply some of the butter for leftover bacon grease.

Variation

  • This recipe has its own taste. But you can also add some other vegetables like carrots, celery, and onions.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. First, you can put the skillet on medium heat and brown it with both sides.
  2. Then put the meat on the baking tray. Add the pepperoncini juice, ranch mix, and brown gravy pack over the roast.
  3. Spread the butter all over the roast and cover it to cook until tender
  4. It takes around eight hours to cook in the slow cooker.
  5. When it is done take out the roast carefully and check it with a fork by shredding it.
  6. Serve the roast with juices.

TIPS:

  • The juice that comes from the roast and the butter will ensure flavorful gravy. It doesn’t require adding extra liquid to the cooker.
  • Mississippi mud roast is also being made in the oven (Dutch) if a slow cooker is not available.
  • If you like to have thick gravy, combine two tablespoons of cornstarch with water add in the gravy, and cook it until its gravy reaches the desired consistency. But let it cook for ten minutes at least.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

  • You can serve it plain as well.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or homemade egg noodles.
  • This recipe goes great with cauliflower rice or mashed cauliflower.

Fridge

  • To store the cooked roast, tightly pack it with heavy-duty foil or wrap. Or put it in a closed container for a few days (Three to four).

Freezer

  • You can store the cooked it in the heavy-duty freezer bag for a bit longer.

Uncooked roast:

  • You can also store by using a similar technique as said above. Just remember to sit it at room temperature if in the fridge. Also, thaw it in the fridge if it is in the freezer.
