Keto Philly Cheesesteak Roll

The Keto Philly Cheesesteak Roll is so delicious and cheesy. We prepare it with slices of steak with the filling of cheese, green bell pepper, and mushrooms. This Philly cheesesteak recipe is easily modified into the keto version. Philly cheesesteak was invented in Philadelphia in 1930 and is made with thinly sliced beef and cheese placed in a hot dog and it is high in carbs. So I modified this recipe in the keto version and made it a low-carb and protein-rich cheesesteak roll. This Keto Philly Cheesesteak Rolls contain 5.9g of carbs, 1.1g of fiber, 4.4g of net carbs, and 47.3g of proteins in it. It is free from gluten, and you can consume it in lunch, or dinner.

INGREDIENT:

FOR MUSHROOM ROASTING:

  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 5 ounces of brown mushrooms
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • ¼ tsp. fresh garlic
  • ½ tsp. Italian seasoning

TO SEASON THE BEEF:

  • 12 ounces of beef sirloin
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • ¼ tsp. onion powder
  • 4 slices of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 ½ ounces of green bell pepper
  • 3 tsp. olive oil

INGREDIENT NOTES:

OLIVE OIL:

  • Olive oil is used to season the meat as well as to saute the mushrooms. We can also use any keto-friendly oil that is neutral for this purpose.

BROWN MUSHROOMS:

  • Brown mushrooms are used to prepare these cheesesteak rolls; you can use any type of edible mushrooms you want.

SALT AND PEPPER:

  • The meat is seasoned with salt and pepper, as well as salt is use to toss the mushrooms.

FRESH GARLIC:

  • Use Fresh garlic in this cheesesteak roll, it gives the best flavor. We can also use a paste of garlic or its powder.

ONION POWDER:

  • A small amount of onion powder is used as a substitute for whole onion to avoid the increase of carb content in these cheesesteak rolls.

MOZZARELLA CHEESE:

  • Mozzarella cheese is placed in these cheesesteak rolls.

GREEN BELL PEPPER:

  • I use green bell pepper in these cheesesteak rolls; we can also use different colors of bell pepper to make it colorful.

INSTRUCTIONS:

FOR MUSHROOM ROASTING:

  1. Take a saucepan (medium) and put it on the heat (medium).
  2. Add 3 tablespoons of oil of olive in the pan and heat the oil a little.
  3. Include the mushroom in the oil and roast it properly for 2 minutes.
  4. Then add ¼ tsp. of salt, pepper, and fresh garlic to the pan and mix it properly.
  5. Then include the half tsp. of Italian seasoning toss them well.
  6. Cook the mushrooms till they get soft and tender and plate it out in the serving dish.

SEASON THE BEEF:

  1. Put the thin slices of beef sirloin on the chopping board.
  2. Sprinkle the ¼ tsp. of salt, pepper, and onion powder over the slice.

ASSEMBLE THE ROLL:

  1. Cut the slices of bell pepper.
  2. Put the slice of cheese on the seasoned beef slice then put the bell pepper on it.
  3. Roll the slice of beef and insert the toothpicks to secure the roll.

FRY THE ROLLS:

  1. Put the frying pan on the heat (medium).
  2. Add 3 tsp. Olive oil in the pan and heat the oil.
  3. Put the cheesesteak rolls in the frying pan carefully.
  4. Cook all sides of the cheesesteak roll for 5 minutes for each side and flip with the tongs.
  5. When they are cooked, put them on the mushroom in a way that you can see melted cheese and charred steak on the above side.

TIPS:

  • Use the best quality of beef and take sirloin or rib eye of beef; should be thinly sliced.
  • Properly roast the mushrooms till they become tender and darker in color.
  • To get the finest flavor, try using fresh garlic rather than garlic paste or powder.

SERVING SUGGESTION:

  • Serve Philly cheesesteak with keto-friendly french fries, mashed cauliflower, or even with the rice of cauliflower.
  • This cheesesteak may also go great with keto fried rice.

STORAGE INFORMATION:

  • Transfer the Philly cheesesteak rolls in the air tight box and stock it up for four days.
