- One lb. Salmon fillet
- One cup of fresh dill
- Half cup sea salt

SALMON:
- I take Salmon fillets from the belly section. You can take it from anywhere else. Skinless or with skin salmon both will work. The skin on salmon tastes more flavorful.
FRESH DILL:
- Always use fresh herbs they can give a nice aroma to the dish. You can also use a dried one if fresh 8s are not available.
SEA SALT:
- Kosher salt is used in this recipe. I don’t prefer to use regular table salt.
WHITE PEPPER:
- White pepper is used in salmon lox. You can also use the black pepper.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Rinse the fish:
- Clean the fish with fresh water and wipe it well with a paper towel.
Add the Ingredients:
- Place a big piece of plastic wrap on the shelf and add the fresh dill, salt, and white pepper. Then place the salmon fillet on the seasoning and then again put the fresh dill, salt, and white pepper on the other side of the salmon fillets.
Wrap the salmon and place the weight:
- Properly wrap the salmon fillets and place them in the shallow dish. Then place another dish smaller than the first one on the salmon fillets and place the metal can over the dish to put the weight.
Put it to cure:
- Place the dish of salmon in the refrigerator for thirty-six hours. Check every 12 hours in between flip it down and get rid of any left-over water.
Rinse the salt:
- After thirty-six hours wash the lox with clean water to remove any excess salt. Refrigerate it again overnight or for twelve hours without cover.
Serve:
- Make a layer of thin slices of salmon with the help of knife (sharp) and dish it out by sprinkling fresh dill.

TIP
- I prefer to use the fresh and wild salmon. Use any kind of fresh Salmon lox.
- You need large amounts of salt to deeply penetrate the salmon in it. It is normal if it looks too much. You can rinse the salmon after thirty-six hours to wash off excess salt.
- Carefully slice the salmon as thin as possible to have a great taste.
STORAGE INFORMATION
Fridge:
- To keep the moisture in the salmon cover it with the plastic wrap and put it in the sealed container for a week.
Freezer:
- Freeze salmon lox before slicing it and pack tightly in a wrap first and then in the sealed container for up to six months. You can thaw the salmon lox in the refrigerator for overnight.

- You can make the bagel by adding cream cheese, homemade lox, cucumber, tomatoes, and red onions. Don’t forget to have low-carb bagels because of the keto diet.
- Make your Salmon lox platter with lox, cheese crackers, fresh veggies, and fruits. Also, you can make cucumber bite.
- Eat the salmon lox with the strawberry spinach salad or the cob salad.
