Canned Pineapple:

  • Add a can of crushed pineapple with juice to add a fruity and sweet taste.

  • They are soft, light, and airy in texture. We add a cup of marshmallows for taste.

Alternatives of this dish

Vanilla Pudding Mix:

  • You may prepare a creamy vanilla dessert with sugar-free vanilla pudding mix.

Greek Yogurt:

  • Fat-free Greek yogurt is used as an alternative to Cool Whip to balance the point value. However, the texture and flavor of the dessert will be completely different.

Unique Variations

Maraschino Cherries:

  • Decorate the top of the salad with chopped maraschino cherry to make it more appealing. It is also used for a taste. Ten cherries give a total of four Weight Watchers points.

Grated Coconut:

  • Add coconut to the salad for a flavor but keep in mind that coconut has a lot of Weight Watchers Points. A few teaspoons of grated coconut equals three to five points depending on the brand you purchase.

Tips

  • Before serving, refrigerate the salad for at least one hour, allowing the texture to set and the flavors to blend.
  • Combine all salad items with the help of a rubber spatula to maintain a soft and lightweight texture.
  • We don’t use wooden spoons because it will eliminate too much air.
  • Try different pudding mix flavors like orange, lemon, or coconut.

Storage Information

Fridge:

  • Save the Watergate salad in an empty, closed-lid jar and store it in the refrigerator for two to four days.

Freezer:

  • We can store the remaining portion of salad in an air-tight container and freeze it for two to three months. However, the texture of marshmallows will alter during the defrosting procedure.
