INGREDIENTS:

  • Half tsp Italian seasoning
  • 12 oz refrigerated pizza dough
  • Half cup reduced-sugar pizza sauce
  • 2 tbsp sliced black olives
  • Quarter tsp onion powder
  • ¾ cup reduced-fat shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 oz chopped lean turkey pepperoni
  • Quarter cup diced bell pepper
  • Cooking spray, as needed
  • Half tsp garlic powder

INGREDIENT NOTES:

LIGHT PIZZA DOUGH:

  • This dough gives the ghost puffs their soft, chewy exterior. It binds the filling together and delivers the classic pizza texture. You can use whole-wheat pizza dough if you prefer.

REDUCED-FAT MOZZARELLA CHEESE:

  • Include this cheese since it melts well inside the puffs and creates a cheesy texture.↻ As an alternative, you can swap it for a small amount of regular mozzarella.

TURKEY PEPPERONI:

  • It adds a savory flavor that gives the puffs their traditional pepperoni pizza taste. Chopped cooked chicken breast can be used as another option.

BLACK OLIVES:

  • They form the tiny eyes and mouths that make the puffs look like ghosts. We use black olives to bring a salty taste that pairs nicely with the cheese and tomato sauce. Roasted red pepper can be used instead.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. First, cover the sheet with baking paper and warm the oven to 400°F.
  2. Mix pizza sauce, reduced-fat mozzarella, chopped turkey pepperoni, diced bell pepper, and seasoning in a small bowl.
  3. Roll the pizza dough on the floured surface and make 48 small ghost shapes using the cookie cutter.
  4. Put half of the dough ghosts on the sheet and add a small amount of filling in the center.
  5. Now place the remaining dough ghosts on top and press the edges to seal the puffs.
  6. Arrange tiny pieces of black olives on the ghost to make eyes and a mouth, then press them gently.
  7. Bake the puffs for 15 minutes, then cool them for five minutes after removing them from the oven.
  8. Lastly, put the pizza puffs on the plate and serve them warm.
